Jagjit Singh passed away on October 10, 2011 succumbing to a cerebral hemorrhage. He left a huge void in hearts of millions of his fans. The ace singer is undoubtedly one of the best when it came to ghazals. Not only the elders, even the younger generation is a big fan of the his deep baritone.
Each time a lover gets lost into an abyss of calmness and silently watches the droplets of the first rains every monsoon, at the same time holding a piping hot cup of tea or coffee in their hands - most probably they are always listening to a Jagjit Singh ghazal. Invariably there is a smile on their faces, while remembering their loved one. Today on his 7th death anniversary, we go down memory lane and revisit 5 of his most soulful tracks:
Hothon Se Chhulo Tum (Prem Geet, 1981)
Tum Ko Dekha Toh Ye Khayal (Saath Saath, 1982)
Hoshwalon Ko Khabar (Sarfarosh, 1999)
Kiska Chehra Ab Main Dekhu (Tarkieb, 2000)
Koi Fariyaad (Tum Bin, 2001)
We doubt we would ever have anybody who is gifted with a voice so magical and words so powerful. The void would always remain unfilled. SpotboyE.com remembers the ghazal maestro today.
