Be it the release of the controversial film, Padmavati or Kareena Kapoor’s comeback movie, Veere Di Wedding- 2018 is going to be full of dhamaakedar films.
There are many big movies which will hit theatres this year and probably as compared to 2017, the coming year has a lot of potential in store.

As we bid goodbye to 2017, here’s taking a look at films to watch out for in 2018:

Padman

Akshay Kumar has always chosen roles that are quite unconventional and we must admit that this, KriArj Entertainment (Prernaa Arora & Arjun N. Kapoor) product is no different. Padman is based on a real life story of Tamil Nadu-based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who revolutionised the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India, by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. The film is directed by R Balki and also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte.

Fanne Khan

Aishwarya Rai-Anil Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer, Fanne Khan is surely a film which a lot of people are eagerly waiting for. This marks the reunion of Anil and Aishwarya after 17 years. They last starred together in Taal (2000). The film is being produced by KriArj Entertainment (Prernaa Arora & Arjun N. Kapoor).

Padmavati

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus is the most controversial film of 2017 which was slated to release this December but unfortunately it has now become the film to look forward to in 2018, thanks to the controversies surrounding the film. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.

Student Of The Year 2

The first part of this film has given stars like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra to the industry. The sequel of the Karan Johar directorial will star Chunky Pandey’s daughter, Ananya Pandey and Tiger Shroff. However, another leading lady will come on board this glamorous film.

Brahmastra

Brahmastra, a Dharma product, brings together Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on the silver screen for the first time. The film is already creating buzz not just for its casting but also because it is a superhero flick which is a trilogy.

Gully Boy

Alia Bhatt is not only romancing Ranbir Kapoor but also Ranveer Singh in 2018. She is the leading heroine in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy which is a coming-of-age film inspired by two real-life rappers from Mumbai’s chawls – Rapper Divine aka Vivian Fernandez and Rapper Naezy aka Naved Shaikh. This is the first time Ranveer and Alia will share screen space in a film, although the duo has worked together in Make My Trip ads.

Veere Di Wedding

Post her pregnancy, Kareena Kapoor is making a comeback to Bollywood with Veere Di wedding which is scheduled to release on May 18, 2018. It is a chic flick which also stars Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. YouTube sensation, Sumeet Vyas makes his Bollywood debut with this film.

Dhadak

Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor will make their Bollywood debut with this movie, which makes it special for just that reason. First few posters of the film were out recently and Janhvi-Ishaan look gorgeous together. Let’s see how their chemistry turns out to be in the movie.

Kedarnath

Another star kid who we are vouching for is Sara Ali Khan! Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter, Sara is making her debut with Sushant Singh Rajput.  The film is directed by Abhishek Kapoor and is a simple pilgrimage love story.

2.0

What happens when two superstars come under one roof? Well, fireworks are bound to happen! Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth have teamed up for 2.0 and we bet this one is going to be a fabulous film. While the Akshay’s look is the talk of the town, the other big highlight of the film is the superstar playing a negative role.

Zero

The Jab Tak Hai Jaan trio– Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma are coming together again for this Aanand L Rai movie. It is the first time SRK will be seen playing a dwarf and that gives us a big reason to look forward to it.

The Sanjay Dutt Biopic

First and foremost, this film is the biopic of the most controversial Bollywood star, Sanjay Dutt. Secondly, it’s being played by one of the talented actors of the industry, Ranbir Kapoor and directed by ace filmmaker, Rajkummar Hirani. If these are not reasons enough to book your tickets for this film, then what is?

Total Dhamaal

3rd instalment of the famous Dhamaal franchise, helmed by Indra Kumar, is also one of the most awaited films of the year. Total Dhamaal starring Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Ajay Devgn, brings back the Beta lead pair- Madhuri and Anil together after 2 decades. This will surely be a BIG dhamaal.

Thugs Of Hindostan

Another multi-starrer which is the talk of the town is Amitabh Bachchan-Aamir Khan-Katrina Kaif-Fatima Sana Shaikh’s Thugs Of Hindostan. This is the second time Fatima and Aamir are sharing screen space after Dangal. The film is being helmed by Dhoom 3 director, Victor.

Parmanu

Starring John Abraham in the lead role, Parmanu is based on the nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army at Pokhran in 1998. The film, which is again a KriArj Entertainment product, also stars Diana Penty. It is slated to release on February 23, 2018.

Namastey Canada

Namastey Canada will bring together Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra once again after Ishaqzaade and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. The film is directed by Namastey London director, Vipul Shah.

Gold

Gold marks the Bollywood debut of TV sensation, Mouni Roy. Akshay Kumar and Mouni’s first looks were out a couple of months back and we must say they were quite impressive with their retro looks. The film will hit theatres on Independence Day, 2018.

Raazi

This Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat, which is based on the story of a Kashmiri spy married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The film is being directed by Meghna Gulzar.

Race 3

This one will be a big fish to watch out for as Salman Khan is taking forward the franchise this time. The shoot of Race 3 has already begun. Interestingly, the entire star cast has been changed and only Anil Kapoor from the previous instalment has bagged a role in Race 3. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah, Saqib Saleem and Bobby Deol in key roles.

Hichki

Rani Mukerji is all set to make a comeback with YRF’s Hichki and we must say this one looks promising enough! She plays the role of a teacher who has speech disorder. The movie will release on Feb 23.

Manikarnika

Kangana Ranaut is all set to play the feisty and fierce Rani Laxmibai in the biopic. We have never seen Kangana play a historic character before so let’s see how this one turns out to be!

Simmba

Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty are coming together for the first time in this masala film. The first look of Simmba released a few weeks back. Simmba, which will have Ranveer Singh play a cop for the first time, will hit theatres on Dec 28, 2018.
