Katrina Is Distressed; Deepika Floats In
Introducing blogger / fashion critic Ayesha Nair weekly column - You wore WHAT!?

You wore WHAT!? is a question Bollywood should ask itself. But since that’s not happening, allow us who have to witness their fashion fails and triumphs, ask this question.
You wore WHAT!? with its punctuations and capital letters stands for the good, the bad and the WTF.
So, watch this space like really watch it are you slightly cockeyed now? Then move back a little, because blogger - fashion critic Ayesha Nair has posts coming up every Sunday, starting today.
So, the woman responsible for Shah Rukh Khans 8 pack abs, Farah Khan threw her 50th birthday bash and naturally most of Bollywood was invited. And all did turn up, mostly to thank her for making Shah Rukh take his shirt off so often.
But lets see how they fared when it came to their own clothes.
We get it, Katrina Kaif. You are gorgeous and at most times can pull off anything. This is not one of those times. The trend of distressed jeans needs to die and actresses wearing them constantly is not helping. Plus, it was either really cold or Katrina overdosed on the blush on. Im going with the latter.
You think Sonam Kapoor got a little lost amongst all those straps on her Stella McCartney lace dress. Its a very interesting dress but just wish she had on some bling to jazz it up a little.
Photos will never do justice to the awesomeness of this chiffon dress by Burberry. You need to see it in motion to know how brilliantly it falls. Deepika Padukone, of course, wears it well.
There never is a dull moment when it comes to Ranveer Singhs wardrobe choices. This time he pulls out an Ashish N Soni number and Im totally loving it. It takes a lot to pull off the looks that hes been sporting. Never change, Ranveer. Never change.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan clung on to husband Abhishek so hard that I could not really see what shes wearing. But my spies (the internet, mostly) tell me its a floral dress from Fendi. But god! What is up with the pantyhose?
Kangana Ranaut looks happy to be wearing this bright Gucci suit so Im not going to pick any bones. Except maybe to point out that her polka dotted shirt is showing us some between the buttons action.
Vidya Balan wore a Ridhi Mehra anarkali. Its a great fit and shows off her slimmer frame. But still its not anything we would not expect from Vidya. Well, guess the fact that shes not wearing a sari is consolation enough.
Nope, Malaika Arora Khan is not wearing a costume from one of her stage shows. She actually chose to wear this glittery Alice + Olivia number with a Louis Vuitton clutch to the party. Actually, Im not sure why I began talking about her stage show costumes because I quite like what shes got on.
Somebody really needs to take Madhuri Dixit-Nene aside, sit her down and tell her that her looks are just not working for her. I mean, she does not have to dress like she did in the 80s but those pants certainly dont belong on Madhuri in 2015.
I totally get that Mallika Sherawat must have been bored with her previous looks that left nothing and absolutely nothing to the imagination. But her demure girl avatar is just not working for me. I mean, there is no drama. Its like watching paint dry.
Lets give Sushmita Sen the benefit of doubt. Maybe she thought it was a theme party. A Lara Croft meets boardroom boss theme.
Yeah, so Im not really feeling Tabus dress its way too shapeless. But man! Shes killing it with those accessories. The glittery sliver peep toes with the dainty gold haath phool is so cool.

Most of the times when Amrita Rao steps out you know shes going to wear something that makes you go, ‘Oh no! And she does not disappoint this time around. Shes in a draped dress from Inch by Neha Modi. Im thinking shes fairly overdressed. Not that the other guests came in sweatpants but this look seemed like she was trying a little too hard.
Lara Dutta is flawless. Lets just leave it at that.
Argh! Another crop top, this one on Amrita Arora. This is such a snorefest. Excuse me while I take a nap.
Must Randeep Hooda insist on dressing up like Charles Sobhraj wherever he goes? We get it, Randeep. You are starring in a film based on Charles life. Now get over it.
