BIRTHDAY SPECIAL: Shah Rukh Khan Beyond 'Raj' & 'Rahul'...
There have been times when Shah Rukh Khan has shed the desi conventional romantic hero image and done something totally hatke. On his 52nd birthday today, we take you through some of the most unconventional roles SRK played on-screen...

Born on November
2, 1965, the King of Romance, Shah Rukh Khan turns 52 years old today. Shah
Rukh is the reason behind women having unrealistic hopes from men in real life!
No, seriously! Every time you see him play Raj or Rahul in any of the films he
has done so far, all you wish for is a soulmate just like him.
Well, apart from rom-coms, Shah Rukh has also been a part of movies where he
didn’t play the conventional romantic hero.
On his birthday today, lets take a look at 5 SRK movies where he shed the
perfect lover boy image and went on to do something hatke...
Chak De! India (2007)
A Still From Chak De India
This has been one of SRK’s best films, hands down! Kabir Khan, former captain
of the Indian men's national field-hockey team was ostracized from the sport
after a disastrous loss to Pakistan. Seven years later, to redeem himself,
Khan becomes the coach of the Indian national women's hockey team and aims to
turn its sixteen contentious players into a championship unit. We don’t think
anyone better than Shah Rukh could have essayed the role any better.
Fan (2016)
A Still From Fan
Fan may have not done exceptionally well at the box-office but the kind of
effort SRK put into it can simply not be unrecognised. If you have watched Fan,
you would know that the kind of VFX and prosthetics were used for SRK paved way
for a drastic physical transformation.
Swades (2004)
A Still From Swades
Swades is one of Ashutosh Gowariker’s best films. SRK’s character and the film
received widespread critical acclaim and is considered a cult classic till
today.
Don (2006)
A Still From Don
Everyone was in two minds when it was announced that Shah Rukh will be playing
Don in the film reprising Amitabh Bachchan’s role from the original film. Of
course there is no one who can match up to Big B’s charisma but SRK added his
own charm to the character making it one of the most unforgettable roles.
Paheli (2005)
A Still From Paheli
Though the film
didn’t do particularly well, it still holds a special place in the hearts of
all SRK fans out there.
Over the years, SRK has given us movies that we can never get bored of and
characters that have etched a place in our hearts forever. His contribution to
Bollywood and Indian cinema is unmatchable and his struggle from being an
outsider to the Badshah of Bollywood is remarkable! Happy Birthday, Shah Rukh
Khan. We love you.
