The Accidental Prime Minister Trailer: Anupam Kher Nails It As Manmohan Singh
Finally, the trailer of Anupam Kher’s much-awaited The Accidental Prime Minister is out. By the looks of it, the trailer looks interesting. The film which is based on Sanjay Baru’s memoir, of the same name, was released in 2014. In the trailer, Akshaye Khanna plays Sanjaya Baru, who was media the advisor of Manmohan Singh back then.

The 2-minute-43-second long trailer sees Aahan Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi, among others. Watch the trailer below:

The former PM’s media adviser Baru had earlier spoken to Indian Express about the biography and said, “The book humanises him. It brings him out as a human being. The younger generation today thinks of him as some kind of robot, a statue. The ‘Singh is King’ image is gone. He has become an object of ridicule, not admiration. I am showing him as a human being, I want there to be empathy for him.”

Anupam Kher had revealed details about his preparation to IANS and said,“The opportunity of portraying a contemporary personality like Dr Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister is an immense challenge for me as an actor. He is part of a 24/7 media era where world knows his persona minutely. I have been internalizing this character for the past few months. I look forward to translating that effort into cinematic reality.”

Talking about their look, Aahana and Arjun hold an uncanny resemblance to their real-life counterparts. Talking about her role in the movie, Aahana had told the Indian Express, “I am beyond excited to play this role. It is important that we get the look right because a lot of characters from this movie are real people from our system.”
