Pink throws light on how unsafe our women are

Amitabh Bachchan launched the trailer (above) of his upcoming thriller Pink at a theatre in Andheri (West) a short while ago. Big B’s co-stars Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi were also present at the event, along with other cast and crew members.

The film, directed by  Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, has been shot in Delhi. It has Bachchan playing a lawyer, who suffers from bipolar disorder and experiences frequent mood swings. His life changes one night, when some influential boys try to molest Taapsee and her roommates -- Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang. The molestation attempt ends in an accident and Big B’s character decides to fight a legal battle on the girls’ behalf.

The trailer throws light on the storyline and is a brilliant depiction of the insecurities and dangers women face across India. It shows how our girls, even in Metros like Delhi, are unsafe. It also highlights how tough the fight for justice is, when it comes to a woman’s honour.

Pink has been co-produced by Rashmi Sharma and Piku director Shoojit Sircar. It also marks Bengali filmmaker Chowdhury’s Bollywood debut.

Interestingly, during Pink’s shoot in New Delhi, Big B had wandered across the city in his look for the film. And guess what, nobody recognised him.
