The Lion King Box-Office Prediction Day 1: Shah Rukh And Aryan Khan To Roar The Loudest
Before The Lion King hits the big screens, we bring you early box-office predictions from a well-known trade expert
The Lion King is releasing in cinema halls tomorrow and there’s huge excitement all around, not just because of the visuals, but also because of Shah Rukh and son Aryan Khan’s voiceovers for the Hindi version. The duo has dubbed for the characters of Mufasa and Simba respectively.
Ahead of its big-screen release, trade analyst Girish Johar exclusively spoke to SpotboyE.com and gave in his early predictions on the box-office numbers. “It’s looking very exciting and Disney has gone all out in promoting the film. In fact, they are not only promoting the film globally but very extensively in India. If you can see, they have created a very good buzz. They have also dubbed the film in 3 languages- Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and they have also taken big stars dubbing for the film. This clearly shows that for Disney, India is a very important market.”
When asked to predict the collections, he said, “I would peg it between Rs 13-15 crores on day one in India for all languages which is Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu.” Well, it really sounds interesting and if this indeed turns true, then we would say that the film has kicked off on a good note.
Here’s a little tidbit on the film, so SRK who lent his voice for Mufasa ended up giving retake for one of the scenes as he sounded quite similar to his son, Aryan who dubbed for Simba. Also, Aryan’s voiceover debut received a thumbs up from celebs and social media users.
The Lion King is directed by Jon Favreau and it opens in cinema halls on July 19 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions.
