Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s Half Girlfriend may have been panned badly by critics and audiences alike, but the movie still opened strong on the first day at the box-office. The Mohit Suri directorial has managed to earn Rs 10.27 crore on Friday.

Half Girlfriend, not only received below average reviews from critics, but even the people exiting the theatres yesterday were not impressed. Arjun's Bihari accent did not go down well with the audience and Mohit Suri's direction too was judged as lacking. However, everyone unanimously spoke well about Shraddha's performance.
Well, the first day collections are a reflection of the immense hype created before the release of the film. Let's wait and watch whether it manages to sustain and grown from here on.
The second release of this week was Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar-starrer Hindi Medium. The film may have created lesser buzz than Half Girlfriend but it has received good reviews from the critics and there is immense word-of-mouth from audiences as well.
But, all that wasn't enough for the movie to get in the big bucks on the opening day. It managed to earn Rs 2.81 crore and that can be hugely because the film got very less number of screens as compared to Half Girlfriend.

In Hindi Medium, more than Irrfan and Sara's acting, the plot of the movie is being talked about. Very rarely does a film manage to take on the Indian education system, and keep it light-hearted and funny as well. Hindi Medium is one such film.
Let's wait and watch whether Hindi Medium picks up over the weekend and manages to beat Half Girlfriend or not.
