Box-Office Collection: Qarib Qarib Singlle & Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana Show IMPROVEMENT On Day 2
Zee Studios' Qarib Qarib Singlle starring Irrfan Khan and Rajkummar Rao’s Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana released on November 10 and registered an improved performance on the second day of their release
Irrfan Khan and Parvathy Thiruvothu starrer Qarib
Qarib Singlle produced by Zee Studios collected Rs 1.75 crore on Day 1.
However, it was expected that the film will grow over the weekend owing to
excellent review and strong word-of-mouth.
Clearly, the results are showing as the winsome modern
day romance made Rs 3 crore 25 lakh (approx) on Day 2 according to Box Office
India.
Author and SpotboyE film critic, Khalid Mohamed had
given the film 3 stars and said, “The Kerala-based Parvathy Thiruvothu,
avoids the glamour route for an endearingly lifelike performance. In real life
she’s 29, going on 35 here. As always, Irrfan Khan is more than capable of
springing up pleasant surprises, in this case displaying masterly comic timing.
His wardrobe, though, makes your eyes boggle. Undoubtedly, the 50-year-old
actor going on 40 for this role, is in terrific form.
With all its pros and cons, there’s no harm in getting qarib qarib to this
one, whether you’re singlle or doublle.”
Kriti Khabanda And Rajkummar Rao In Shaadi Main Zaroor Aana
The other release of this week, Rajkummar Rao and
Kriti Kharbanda’s Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana opened on a dismal note with
collections not even touching a crore. However, this film picked up too and
registered a figure of Rs 1 crore 35 lakh on Day 2.
Khalid Mohamed was all for Rajkummar’s efficient
performance but it is the plot of the film that left him unimpressed.
“Expectedly, Rajkummar Rao invests dollops of conviction into his role, which
under a lesser actor, could have become a cartoonish caricature. Infallibly,
he’s nuanced. Kriti Kharbanda, at least, makes her screen presence felt (if you
do remember her from Guesst iin London, my sincere congratulations). In sum,
the hectoring title of Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana is not to be taken seriously.
Try this so-so film, only if you have nothing better to do for 128 minutes of
your life,” he wrote.
Now, considering the reviews of this film, let’s wait and
watch to see if the collections improve in the coming days.
