Badhaai Ho, Namaste England Box-Office Collection: Ayushmann & Sanya’s Family Drama Accelerates On Day 2; Arjun & Parineeti’s Love Story Gets A Lazy Start
Here are the second day box-office collection of Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao starrer Badhaai Ho and Day 1 collections of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra starrer Namaste England
The makers of Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao starrer Badhaai Ho can indeed say Badhai Ho to each other as the movie is gradually picking up at the box-office. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra’s love story is still struggling to hit the nail.
Unlike Namaste England, Badhai Ho released on Thursday. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about Day 2 collections of Badhai Ho on social media and wrote, “#BadhaaiHo is on a winning streak... Is SUPERB on Day 2... Eclipses biz of *all films* in the marketplace [new + holdover titles]... Thu 7.29 cr, Fri 11.67 cr. Total: ₹ 18.96 cr. India biz… Expect BIGGER NUMBERS on Sat and Sun.”
On the other hand, according to a report in BoxOfficeIndia, Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra’s love story has opened up to a poor Friday. Reportedly, the film has earned just Rs 1.5 cr on the 1st day of its release.
SpotboyE.com editor Vickey Lalwani rated Badhaai Ho with 2.5 stars and wrote, “Why can't middle-aged couples have and enjoy sex? Why assume that the sex life of couples ends when their kids grow up? Why can't a couple have a baby if they are in their late 40s? Frankly, we don't think that. In fact, most of us don't. But maybe Badhaai Ho director Amit Sharma (who earlier helmed Tevar) is one of the minority who does, and so weaves his thoughts into a screenplay which is as slow as a snail if not more, but interspersed with situations/dialogues that make you grin--- but God, you have seen them all in the trailer. Yes, ALL the funny moments were let out in the trailer itself and besides that, you have nothing in those 2hr 15min to make you laugh- think of it, isn't that what you are going to buy your ticket for when it comes to this offering from Priti Shahani of Junglee Pictures.”
While he rated Namaste England with 2 stars and wrote, “Well, well, well. Now, we know why Akshay Kumar didn't do Namaste England. The sincere and hardworking Arjun Kapoor too, who was so good in Ki & Ka, Finding Fanny and Ishaqzaade, should have dodged this bullet. Ditto for Parineeti Chopra, who put in such spunky performances in Ishaqzaade, Shuddh Desi Romance and Hasee Toh Phasee. What magical wand did Vipul Shah carry to this duo that made them agree to a film with rustic locations, poor dialogues and inexplicable actions?”
