First Day First Show: So Far So Good For Tiger Shroff & Munna Michael
Tiger Shroff and debutante Nidhhi Agerwal-starrer Munna Michael hit theatres today and we headed to a few single screen theatres and multiplexes to get a sense of how the audience is reacting to the project.

We noticed that while movie buffs didn't turn up in huge numbers for this masala potboiler at multiplexes, at single-screen theatres, the movie saw a beeline. The occupancy was over 90% at some of these places. People coming out of the shows spoke highly about Tiger's dance moves and action stunts, however, they were vocal about the lack of a storyline.

Trade Expert Amod Mehra said, "Munna Michael will have its own set of loyal audience in the single-screens, but not at the multiplexes. The minus point for Munna Michael is that the film is rather too long, and the 2nd half isn't up to the mark. It's a paisa vasool for the masses but not for others.”

Trade Expert Akshaye Rathi opined, “Munna Michael is doing very well at massy centres. However, the Hollywood release Dunkirk has opened up to phenomenal business at multiplexes. So it's a fairly mixed bag this week. None of them is a Baahubali or a Tubelight, but they have really good potential. Also, Jagga Jasoos might do well over the weekend.”

Maratha Mandir and Gaiety Galaxy owner, Manoj Desai said, "Munna Michael has opened extraordinarily. Theatres are almost housefull. However, I don't think people would be anymore interested in watching Jagga Jasoos. The film is finished according to me."

Meanwhile, Alankrita Srivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha also released alongside Munna Michael and on the first day registered a decent occupancy at the multiplexes.

People coming out of the theatres were all praise for the concept saying that the film's plot was intrinsic to the current problems of women in Indian small towns.

Akshaye added, "Lipstick Under My Burkha is doing well all over, and over the weekend will grow because of good word-of-mouth.”

Amod Mehra echoed Akshaye’s opinion and said, “Lipstick Under My Burkha will manage to do grow and do well. It's a niche film.”
