The easy
camaraderie between Jacqueline Fernandez and Sidharth Malhotra, the stars of A
Gentleman, makes them the perfect subjects for a fun interview and that is
exactly what SpotboyE.com did. While Jacqueline looked sexy in her hot pants,
Sidharth was dapper in his semi-formal outfit as they talked about who’s the
gentleman and who’s not the gentlewoman in Bollywood. Excerpts:
What do you
think is sexy about a woman?
Sidharth:
Their personality and how they conduct themselves. Talking about their physical appearance, I
love women with open hair.
Sidharth Malhotra And Jacqueline Fernandez In A Gentleman-Sundar, Susheel, Risky
If you had to
present this title in our industry, who would it be? A. Susheel Gentleman &
Gentlewoman
Sidharth: Saif
Ali Khan & Deepika Padukone
Jacqueline: Shah
Rukh Khan....
Sidharth:
Anushka Sharma
Jacqueline: No,
correct me if I am wrong, Susheel means....
Sidharth:
Cultured
Jacqueline: But
I thought Anushka is more outgoing
Sidharth: Why
won’t a cultured person be outgoing?
Jacqueline: OK,
so now that he has put me in a weird spot, it’s Anushka Sharma.
Sidharth: My definition
of susheel is different from hers. It’s okay.
B. Sundar
Gentleman & Gentlewoman
Jacqueline:
Hrithik Roshan & Katrina Kaif
Sidharth: Jacqueline & I.
C. Risky
Gentleman & Gentlewoman
Jacqueline:
Salman Khan & Anushka Sharma

Jacqueline Fernandez And Sidharth Malhotra In Disco Disco
Sidharth, what
are some of the ladylike qualities of Jacqueline and Katrina?
Sidharth: They
both are very distinct personalities. I admire Jacqueline’s energy, there’s no
stress that she carries on set. She is a self-made person. And Katrina is an
ideal picture of a perfect woman that a man wants as a partner. Katrina is an
epitome of well, lot of men want to “marry” her.
Jacqueline, what are Sidharth & Salman’s not-so-gentleman like qualities?
Sidharth is
well-mannered and kind. And there’s nothing else about Sidharth which is
not-so-gentleman. And about Salman, he is also a gentleman.
Sidharth, what
is Alia Bhatt’s not-so-ladylike quality?
Her eating
habits.
One movie
that was the riskiest in your career?
Jacqueline:
Murder 2
Sidharth: Ek
Villain
How important
do you think A Gentleman is for your career at this point, considering Baar
Baar Dekho and Flying Jatt didn’t work?
Sidharth:
Absolutely. Every movie is important. I couldn’t have chosen a better film
after Baar Baar Dekho. I know that film wasn’t universally accepted even though
I like the content, but we are excited for this one.
Jacqueline: One
just needs to put the past behind and focus on what’s ahead. But at the same
time you can’t let that take away from your journey.
Jacqueline,
do you think you play safe when selecting films because you still haven’t tried
unconventional roles?
Sidharth: She
did Brothers, a totally non-glamorous role.
Jacqueline: Yes,
but people don’t see that (laughs). Why will I settle for something that is
mediocre in my eyes just for the sake of doing something ‘unconventional’? That’s not right either. Something needs to come across me. Others were
lucky to get those roles.
The film
features some steamy scenes. How comfortable were you two and did anything
funny or difficult happen while shooting an intimate scene?
Sidharth: Jacqueline & I have been friends for a long time, so, it wasn’t difficult to shoot
as such. But the only awkward part is, that in real life it is smooth but in a
film when you are trying to remove your T-shirt, it is very difficult to make undressing look easy on camera. Being
intimate on-screen is an art.
The Censor
Board has a problem with sex scenes. Do you think they will cut the intimate
scenes from A Gentleman?
Sidharth: Why
should they?
Jacqueline: Yes,
why should they?
Sidharth: There
has to be a reason. As Mr. Aamir Khan said, they are supposed to give us a
censor certificate and not tell us the edit pattern and tell us what to cut. I
feel it’s just wrong to say ‘Arey, ye kaat do, wo kaat do’. We didn’t get up
and decide randomly to add a scene. Everything is planned, there’s so much of
work that goes behind a film.
Jacqueline,
what is the real deal with Taapsee Pannu? Are the rumours of the catfights true?
Sidharth: It’s
her risky side.
Jacqueline: Are
we back in high school? I feel stupid giving an answer to this. We are all
grown adults.
Sidharth: There
are so many avenues, so many pages to fill, anything on social media can be
written in some or the other way.
Jacqueline: And
thank god we have social media where we can clarify our stand. But in the
beginning, Taapsee and I had no scenes, later we started shooting together.
Nothing was true. So, to burst everyone’s bubble, catfights don’t exist.
Sidharth, if
you become a director/producer, who would be your choice for the lead pair?
I will cast myself.
You both are
self-made and don’t come from a filmi family. What do you have to say about the debate on Nepotism?
Sidharth: First
of all, I am thankful that the youth of India knows the word nepotism. I didn’t
know it existed while growing up in Delhi. But, on a serious note, it does
exist. There are so many people in the industry who are from film background but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. You can’t take away from their hard
work. If a film does well, it’s because of the story and the hard work, not
because of what background the actor is coming from. People don’t come to watch
our films because we are outsiders.
