for a sneak peek into the world of Tiger (Salman) and Zoya (Katrina).
It is here that director Ali Abbas Zafar got talking
about the film and how it all fell into place.
Excerpts:
Q. How
did Tiger Zinda Hai happen?
A. We
had a story in mind, which we narrated to Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan. The two
came on board and we mutually agreed that the franchise should be taken ahead.
We then approached Aditya Chopra who provided us the necessary infrastructure
to make a film on this scale.

Q. How
different is it from Ek Tha Tiger?
A. Ek
Tha Tiger was essentially a love story, while Tiger Zinda Hai will have
never-seen-before action sequences as its highlight. This film is far bigger in
terms of canvas and various other ingredients.

Q. Was
it easy to get Salman and Katrina together?
A. In
today’s times, people strike a chord with subjects which are more real. Katrina
Kaif worked with me in my first film (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan) and is a friend.
Salman and I got along while working on Sultan. All in all, everything fell
into place.

Q. It’s
known that Salman has a few health problems. How did you manage to shoot with
him in extreme climatic conditions?
A. (Laughs)
You don’t know how much he abused me for that, I just can’ tell you (laughs
again). It was definitely not easy but agar hum unse ye sabb karwaen to it
comes off very well. Also, he has a certain image where is he perceived to be
this tough guy competent enough to take on several goons all alone. I have made
him do what he does best.

Yash Raj, Salman, Katrina and Co.
