Raveena Tandon is a mother to 4 beautiful kids- Chhaya and Pooja Tandon, whom she adopted at the age of 21 and Ranbir & Rasha Thadani. The stunning actress was not just winning hearts in the 90s with her spectacular acting chops and dance moves, but was also being a great mother at a young age to her two daughters.
As we celebrate Mother's Day tommorow, SpotboyE.com caught up with Raveena for an elaborate chat on her journey as a mother. Watch the video below as the actress initiates the conversation from the time she was 21 and narrates incidents as of today.
Talking about the equation she shared with her daughters- Pooja and Chhaya, back then, Raveena said, "We discussed everything under the sun. From boyfriends, crushes, my life- good or bad. I told them learn from my mistakes, I told them whatever was happening in my life. Got them ready for the reality, never sugar coated the world to them."
While talking about how she handled her daughters during their growing up years, Raveena reaveled what is the latenight culture at her home. "I have given my daughters the freedom of keeping the company they want, but have always told them, whoever is coming to drop you home, should come upstairs and meet me," said Raveena.
Raveena is a proud mother, today. She told us how well her daughters- Chhaya and Pooja are doing for themselves. The actress exclaimed in happiness, "It's so nice to see them seize the opportunities life gave them. My elder daughter, Chhaya, who is just 11 years younger to me, is in South Africa, working for a pharmaceutical company. She is a VP, has her own bungalow, is living a great life. It feels so good that they got the chance to empower themselves."
We then asked Raveena how her husband, Anil Thadani reacted to this integral part of her life. She replied, "Anil knew it all along. When I was dating him, for 2 months, he obviously was aware. He was man enough to take charge of everything. He started handling everything related to them- he took over from me. I pray to god, I want him back in every life I take birth in. But a lot of people didn't know about the girls. I never held press conferences, announcing I have adopted. Only when they passed Standard 10th, I started taking them out for shoots and events, and then gradually people started coming to know about them."
Speaking about why she didn't expose them to the world earlier, Raveena said that it was the era of yellow journalism and it was a catch 22 situation for her. "In the 90s, there were a few bitchy journalists, who would pull you down and say, 'Oh, she is doing all this to show and get publicity,' So, even when you are doing something with a genuine intension, it would backfire, which is why I didn't take them out a lot. However, now things are so different. People appreciate you and your acts," said Raveena.
The actress also made an extremely valid and essential point that it is a mother's responibility to make her boy child aware and instill respect for women from the every begginning. Do watch the candid chat above for more on Raveena's journey as a mother.
