Veteran Actor And Former TMC MP Tapas Pal Passes Away At 61
Bengali veteran actor and former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Tapas Pal died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning. Pal, 61, is survived by his wife and daughter. Pal was rushed to hospital after he complained of chest pain at Mumbai airport. He was in Mumbai to visit his daughter who is also an actor. 

Family sources informed that he was admitted in Juhu hospital where he died around 4 am. Tapas was suffering from heart ailments from long time. 


Tapas made his debut in Bengali cinema in the film Dadar Kirti. The film was blockbuster hit and was critically acclaimed. After this film Pal as he emerged as the jubilee star of the Tollywood.


Pal had won awards for films like Saheb, Parabat Priya, Bhalobasa Bhalobasa, Anurager Choyan, Amar Bandhan and Guru Dakshina. Pal won a Filmfare Award for his role in Saheb. Pal also worked in Bollywood films and was cast opposite Madhuri Dixit in Abodh.


Many tollywood celebrities mourn his untimely death and took to their social handle to express their grief.  

Tapas Pal was two-term MP from Krishnanagar and MLA from Alipore.  In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Pal won from the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Pal was also arrested in 2016 by the CBI for his alleged involvement in Rose Valley group chit fund scam.
