The situation in New Delhi remained tensed as the death toll rises to 20, with reports of fresh incidents of stone-pelting and arson coming in the northern parts of the capital. Protest over anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) continued for the fourth day. Shops, educational institutions remained shut. Section 144 has been imposed and order of shoot and sight has been issued.

Protests started on the intervening night of 22–23 February when around 1000 women protesters started a sit-in protest at a stretch of Seelampur–Jaffrabad road in North East Delhi. The protest blocked the entry and exit to the Seelampur metro station. According to the reports, the sit-in protest called by the Bhim Army.
