Legendary Buddhadeb Dasgupta To Inaugurate Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival

The 6th edition of Hyderabad Bengali film festival is celebrating 100 glorious years of Bengali cinema and it will kick start from July 18 to 21st July. Bengali writer Faridur Reza Sagar will be felicitated in this festival

Legendary Buddhadeb Dasgupta To Inaugurate Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival
Bengali legendary filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta will be inaugurating Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival. The festival will kick start from July 18 to 21st July. South Indian superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni will also inaugurate the 6th edition of HBFF.

The information was shared in the press release of the event. This year the Bengali Panorama segment is going to feature 13 Bengali films, out of which 2 films are going to have a World Premiere (Manab Manabi directed by Subrata Sen & Shironam directed by Indranil Ghosh), and 1 film is going to see an India Premier (Tokhon Kuasha Chhilo directed by Saibal Mitra). Apart from this, 9 films are going to be premiered in Hyderabad. Bollywood famed editor Dilip Deo is going to world premiere his directorial debut, Unwanted, in this edition of HBFF.

Buddhadeb Dasgupta

Buddhadeb Dasgupta is a poet and prominent Bengali filmmaker. He is mostly known for films like Bagh Bahadur, Tahader Katha, Charachar and Uttara. Five of his films have won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film, Bagh Bahadur, Charachar, Lal Darja, Mondo Meyer Upakhyan, and Kaalpurush. Dooratwa and Tahader Katha has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali.

He has won National Film Award for Best Direction twice for Uttara and Swapner Din. Over the years he has published several works of poetry including Govir Araley, Coffin Kimba Suitcase, Himjog, Chhaata Kahini, Roboter Gaan, Sreshtha Kabita, and Bhomboler Ascharya Kahini O Ananya Kabita.

In May, he had been honoured with Rabindra Smriti Puraskar for his contribution to Bengali literature as a poet.
