Katti Nrittam script to be preserved at the Oscar library
Katti Nrittam is in the last leg of shooting and already the film has earned a laurel for director Aneek Chaudhuri. The screenplay of the film will be preserved at the Margaret Herrick Library of the Oscars. Aneek Chaudhuri has written the screenplay of Katti Nrittam himself. “This honour has made me more focused to complete the film. I don’t want to be carried away. I want this achievement to encourage us, not divert us,” says Aneek Chaudhuri.

Aneek Chaudhuri has another connection to the Oscars. His film Cactus has also been preserved at the Academy Film Archives. Being preserved at the Oscars library means that the film will be available to researchers and film students in the USA and other countries. The Margaret Herrick Library preserves documented materials, scripts and screenplays. The poster of Katti Nrittam, created by young artist Shruti Purkait, will also be preserved at the Oscars library.

Katti Nrittam is a Malayalam film that deals with the life of a failed Kathakali dancer. Even though director Aneek Chaudhuri was born in Bengal, he has spent a substantial time of his life in Delhi and admits that he is not too comfortable with Bengali. He has been inspired by Kathakali and the Malayalam language in the past few years, which acted as a catalyst for the creation of Katti Nrittam. Aneek says, “I believe that language should not be a hindrance in cinema. Malayalam as a language has inspired me, so I decided to make a Malayalam film.”
