Sriya Lenka, an 18-year-old singer from Odisha has indeed made her country and homeland proud as she has become the first K-pop star from India. Yes, you read that right! Sriya is the first-ever Indian star who has been chosen to be one of the group members of the K-pop group, ‘Blackswan’, which has a 4-member K-pop girl band such as Go Young Heun (Youngheun), Belgium-based Senegalese singer-rapper-model Fatou Samba (Fatou), Korean singer-dancer Kim Da Hye (Judy) and maknae Brazilian-Japanese singer Larissa Ayumi Cartes Sakata (Leia).
On Thursday, Lenka along with Brazilian girl Gabriela Dalcin was selected to be a part of K-pop which has immense popularity across the world. Notably, In India, its popularity and craze have been increasing by leaps and bounds. Reportedly, DR Music was supposed to pick only one member for Blackswan, but they ended up choosing two talents, Sriya Lenka and Gabriela as the 5th and 6th members of the K-pop group. Announcing the same on their official Instagram handle, the group said, “With their debut, we will be back with Blackswan.” It is being said that they both are likely to be in Seoul for the next couple of months for their practice so that the group releases their next album soon.
As per reports, both Sriya Lenka and Gabriela for the last five months had been doing intense training sessions which include standard vocal, rap, and dance lessons for personal training, language, and musical instruments.
Interestingly, Sriya Lenka is very talented as she learned Odissi classical dance, freestyle, hip-hop, and contemporary dance at the age of 12. Just like other teenage girls, she too got hooked and obsessed with K-pop and thus she learned the Korean language and culture by watching Korean dramas online.
