Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan enjoys a huge fanbase in India as well as in Qatar. He had recently visited Doha to attend the AFC Final as a special guest of honour. Photos of him greeting the Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani went viral on social media leaving his fans ecstatic. Now days after this, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy took to his official handle to make a shocking claim. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi pleaded with SRK for his intervention so that the Sheikhs of Qatar would free the eight former Indian Naval Officers from their custody. For the unversed, the naval officers were sentenced to death on the charges of spying on Isreal.
Taking to his official handle on X (formerly known as Twitter), Swamy replied to a tweet by PM Modi highlighting his travel to the UAE and Qatar to attend various programmes. The tweet read, “Modi should take Cinema star Sharuk Khan to Qatar with him since after MEA and NSA had failed to persuade the Shiekhs of Qatar, Modi pleaded with Khan to intervene , and thus got an expensive settlement from the Qatar Shiekhs to free our Naval officers.”
