It was a big day for India as not only was RRR’s much-loved song Naatu Naatu, which starred Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead, won the tile of Best original song, but Guneet Monga’s The Elephant Whisperers won the Best Documentary Short Award. While the internet is buzzing with congratulatory messages from all corners, Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez’s makeup artist and close friend Shaan Muttathil, mocked their win.

On an Instagram post announcing Naatu Naatu’s win, of an international publication, Shaan took to the comments section to mock the makers of the critically acclaimed film. He alleged that the makers ‘bought’ the award, just like they do in India. Quoted by DNA, he wrote, “Hahahah this is so funny. I thought only in India we could buy awards lol. But now even Oscars. Money and what all we can get when we have the money. For the unversed, the international publication had posted a video of Deepika Padukone announcing Naatu Naatu live performance at the Oscars. His comment didn’t go down well with the netizens as they bashed for comparing a prestigious award ceremony like the 95th Academy Awards, to Indian awards shows. Talking about the movie, the SS Rajamouli directorial is set in the 1920s. It follows the journey of a tribal leader, Komaram Bheem, and a police officer, Alluri Sitarama Raju’s, journey to fight for the freedom of their people from the British. The magnum opus movie racked in nearly Rs 1,200 crore at the box office worldwide. The movie also stars Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, and Ray Stevenson, among many others in pivotal roles.
