After much anticipation, Jr NTR's latest film Devara hit theatres on Friday, September 27. The film’s release, particularly in Hyderabad, took an unfortunate turn when a massive cut-out of the star was set on fire by a disorderly crowd. The incident shocked both fans and authorities alike. This cut-out, located outside Sudharshan Theatre in Hyderabad, was engulfed in flames, and the visuals of the burning structure quickly went viral online.
Reports suggest that the incident occurred as a large group of excited fans had gathered to celebrate Devara’s release. As part of the festivities, they were bursting crackers near the theatre when the cut-out of Jr NTR caught fire. The scene quickly turned chaotic as hundreds of fans scrambled to escape the growing flames. Fortunately, local authorities and the fire brigade arrived swiftly and managed to contain the fire before it could spread to the theatre. While the incident did not result in any injuries, it raised serious concerns about safety protocols. Authorities have since urged fans to avoid lighting crackers in such public spaces to prevent similar mishaps in the future.
This was not the first time that Devara had faced challenges in Hyderabad. Earlier, a pre-release event for the film had to be cancelled due to overcrowding at the venue, which had caused significant chaos. Jr NTR later expressed his disappointment, noting that he was eager to share insights about the film but was unable to do so because of the security concerns. He asked fans not to blame the producers or organizers for the cancellation, highlighting that his disappointment was even greater than theirs.
