Having made waves with his participation in Bigg Boss OTT 3, Naved Shaikh aka Rapper Naezy stole the limelight on the controversial reality show with his laid-back attitude. The audience also lauded his strong bond with Sana Makbul, who won the show. He rose to fame after his rap song ‘Mere Gully Mein’ went viral which also featured DIVINE. His journey was the inspiration behind Zoya Akhtar’s much-acclaimed 2019 film Gully Boy, co-starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Siddhanth Chaturvedi. However, the film created a negative impact on his life.
For those who don’t remember, during his stint on the Anil Kapoor-hosted controversial reality show, he opened up about the negative impact Gully Boy had in his life. In a conversation with co-contestant Poulomi Das, he revealed that the filmmakers altered the facts about his life which were untrue, but people believed it.
He was heard saying, “Toh usse mere ko ekdum subtle way mein fayda hua aur bahut nuksaan bhi hua. Mere personal life pe ki mere do-do girlfriends dikha di gayi hai. Mujhe gareeb bataya gaya hai, jitna gareeb main tha nahi. Mujhe driver bataya gaya hai kyunki main vo hu nahi. Lekin jo Indian audience ka dimag hai na, sabko aisa lagra ki yahi Naezy bhai hai. To ussey meri personal life pe thoda farak pada.”
Naezy had also spoken about his downfall and disappearance from all social media handles during a chat with Ranvir Shorey. The 31-year-old rapper, without giving names and specific details, stated that certain people were jealous of him gaining fame which led to his disappearance as he was put in jail for around a year. During that span of time, while no one knew where he was, certain rumours about him started surfacing online which affected his personal as well as professional life. He revealed that he has not been able to achieve that kind of fame ever again.
