Vishwanathan Anand has issued a statement after Indian billionaire Nikhil Kamath admitted that he cheated to win a game against the Chess Grandmaster at a charity event. Anand has expressed his disappointment in a subtle way. The Chess Grandmaster said that it is expected the game will be played ethically. For the unversed, the Zerodha co-founder had taken to his Twitter handle to apologize to everyone for what he did. Kamath admitted he cheated and what he did was wrong. He said that even though the game was played for charity, it gives him no excuse to do what he did.

Taking to Twitter, Anand said, “Yesterday was a celebrity simul for people to raise money It was a fun experience upholding the ethics of the game.” He added, “I just played the position on the board and expected the same from everyone.” The Chess Grandmaster shared a screenshot of the statement issued by Kamath and re-tweeted it.

Later, after Anand posted the subtle reply on his Twitter, Nikhil Kamath replied and wrote, “@vishy64theking in my head, it was just a fun game we amateurs were playing against the greatest chess champ from India to raise funds for charity. During the match between Nikhil Kamath and Vishwanathan Anand, the Zerodha co-founder had a 98.9% accuracy rate while the Chess grandmaster got 92.7%. Anand played White while Kamath played Black. Apart from this, Chess.com has banned the Zerodha co-founders account for violating its fair-play policy.
