Amidst his quarantine period and ahead of his UK tournament, Indian skipper Virat Kohli conducted a 'Ask Me Anything' session on Instagram stories. Taking advantage of the session, Kohli fans spammed and asked him diverse questions right from the meaning of the name of his daughter to some core cricketing topics. Among many, a fan even asked Kohli about his diet plan where he revealed, ‘Lots of vegetables, some eggs, 2 cups of Coffee, quinoa, lots of spinach, love dosas too. But all in controlled quantities.’ However, his plan confused many as it included ‘eggs’ as fans think he once claimed to be a vegan. Clearing all the confusion, the Indian Skipper shared his statement saying that he ‘never claimed to be vegan’.

He took to his Twitter handle and mentioned that he always maintained to be a vegetarian. He wrote, "I never claimed to be vegan. Always maintained I'm vegetarian. Take a deep breath and eat your Veggies (if you want)” Earlier, during an Instagram chat with former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, Kohli had mentioned he had to cut down on meat due to 'health reasons'. "I had a cervical spine issue which resulted in a tingling sensation in my little finger making it difficult for me to bat. It happened around the Centurion Test in South Africa in 2018. Moreover, my stomach became a bit acidic, my uric acid went high and my stomach started pulling calcium from the bones which actually resulted in the spine issue. Hence, I had to cut down on meat and now I feel better than ever," Kohli had said.

After his tweet was shared, a fan came out in his support and said, “Have seen your old videos and one live session with Pietersen on diet issue. You've always said vegetarian and not vegan. However, the media has been reporting vegan since 2018. Egg is veg/non-veg is debatable. Most credible org incl medical ones classify it as veg. With you on this.” While another one shared a screenshot of an article where he said that he turned vegan, “Chill Guys, he turned Vegan for some time but might have dropped the idea later.”
