Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, have been extended an invitation to attend the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram Temple scheduled for January 22 in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Kohli joins a list of distinguished cricketers, including MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, who have also received invitations to the grand event at the Ram Temple. The initiation of Vedic rites for the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya commenced on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the ceremonial proceedings a week ahead of the primary event. Champat Rai, the General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, announced that the Ram temple will be accessible for public 'darshan' starting from January 23. Speaking about the prestigious ceremony he said that The ‘Pran Prathishtha’ is expected to conclude by 1 pm. PM Modi and others present on the occasion will express their thoughts after the ceremony. As per tradition, gifts in 1000 baskets have come from Nepal’s Janakpur and areas of Mithila. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced an 11-day special ritual leading up to the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ramlala at the Ayodhya temple. Simultaneously, Kohli is actively involved in India’s T20I squad facing Afghanistan. The two teams are set to clash on Wednesday in the final match of the three-game T20I series at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
