The mess around Arjun Reddy – Kabir Singh and their misogynistic concept have yet again made it to the headlines, thanks to Malayalam actress Parvathy Thiruvothu, who slammed the film at the recently held conversation by Film Companion. And the fact that she criticised the plot of Arjun Reddy right in front of Vijay Deverakonda, has got Parvathy a lot of appreciation on social media. Vijay Deverakonda, on the other hand, is being slammed for his comments. Now, the actor opened up on the same and is quite exasperated.
During a recent press interaction, Vijay Deverakonda said that he is very irritated because netizens are celebrating Paravthy’s comments at his cost. However, Vijay holds no grudges against the actress and says that he admires her work. He added how he thinks that people have gone nuts on social media. “I am very irritated right now. I can't keep it in and I want to take it out. If I will keep it in, it will become a tumour inside me I am normally very understanding. I give people the benefit of doubt. I saw that there was genuine angst and genuine intention behind these questions. But these people don't know what they are talking about,” said Vijay.
He added, “I feel they are very misplaced. I didn't mind the question. I love Parvathy. I admire her work. What irritates me is the social media and media 'hadavidi'. People go nuts. They don't know what they are talking about. I dislike that people are celebrating at my cost. That's my issue. I don't care what you think of the film, misogyny or the interview.” (ALSO READ - Parvathy Apologises For Casually Using The Term ‘Bipolar Disorder’ Amid Slamming Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy)
At the show, Parvathy had slammed Arjun Reddy’s character by saying, “When a man is being misogynistic and abusive, and you show that in a way that incites applause in the audience, then that's glorification. There has to be commercial, there has to be fun, but without demeaning gender. I can feel lustful towards a character and not make it vulgar and dispensable. With respect bhi ho sakta hai. I'm definitely against such films which glorify such characters.”
Vijay Deverakonda defended the character by saying, “Maybe there is a couple who is so in love, it is completely possible if you think of it broadly, that a couple is completely in love, and they give each other little hits and stuff and they completely understand, and they are still in love.”
