The application TikTok is one of the fastest-growing applications in the country and has managed to win a large fan-following as well. Apart from random TikTokers, several celebrities in the country have also been using the Chinese application. Since the past few days, after CarryMinati aka Ajey Nagar’s YouTubers Vs TikTokers controversy, #BanTikTok has been trending on Twitter. Now, as TikTok videos promoting acid attacks on women, rape, and other problematic content have surfaced on social media, the app ratings go down and social worker Girish Bharadwaj urges Union Home Secretary to ban the app.

For the unversed, YouTuber CarryMinati’s video calling out TikTok creators for plagiarising content from YouTube, among other things was taken down from YouTube after it went viral. Soon later, as a TikTok versus YouTube social media war has erupted, the ratings of the Chinese app have gradually reduced. The incident has impacted TikTok’s Google play store ratings after #TikTokBan and #TikTokExposed has been trending on Twitter. In less than a week, the app ratings have dropped down from 4.6 to 2 with many Indian users calling for a ban.

Now, taking to Twitter, Social worker Girish Bharadwaj tweeted, “Wrote to Union Home Secretary, On #BanTikTok in India, Also mentioned some important points which all our citizens should be aware off! • India has highest TikTok app downloads with 611 million users, its creator China itself has only 196.6 million users! #BanTikToklnlndia.” Tweeting on the microblogging site, Girish Bharadwaj shared pictures of his penned down letter to the Union Home Secretary.  Check it out below:

Meanwhile, with a major controversy surrounding the application TikTok, only time will tell if or not the government decides to take strict action against the app and put a ban on it in the country.
