Along with former Indian cricket team skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, announcing his retirement from the international cricket format was Indian cricketer Suresh Raina as well. On August 15, 2020 these two announcements got the cricket lovers emotional and reminiscing the time when these players played their best shots on the 22 yards. Appreciating Suresh Raina for his contribution towards the game of cricket was honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Penning a 2 page long letter PM was all praises for the player which left the player humbled.
In the letter speaking from his cover drives which drove the cricket fans crazy to the word retirement doesn’t suit him, as he is too young to retire, PM wrote in the letter, “I do not want to use the word ‘retirement’ because you are too young and energetic to ‘retire’.” Sharing this letter on his Twitter account Suresh Raina paid his gratitude towards the PM in his Tweet. Mentioning there is no better appreciation for a player who gives out his blood and sweat than this when he represents the country.
“When we play, we give our blood & sweat for the nation. No better appreciation than being loved by the people of this country and even more by the country’s PM. Thank you @narendramodi ji for your words of appreciation & best wishes. I accept them with gratitude. Jai Hind!” followed by the Indian flag, tweeted Suresh Raina.
