Punjab and drugs apparently have a deep connection!

Now, a video of a young woman allegedly under the influence of drugs in Punjab’s Amritsar has taken the internet by storm. The viral clip has even sparked concerns amongst users about the prevailing drug abuse problem in the state.

The video in question was reportedly captured in the Maqboolpura locality of the Amritsar East constituency. It featured a woman who seem to be unconscious as she just stood on the road, slouching and struggling to move. Nevertheless, the locality has often been on the news for drug abuse addicts and cases.

For the unversed Maqboolpura is known as the Sikh holy city and it has predominantly made headlines for incidents related to drug abuse. Police and government officials launched de-addiction 'drives' and they have failed to yield the desired results.

Speaking of the girl who allegedly used contraband substances had droopy eyes and she was unable to stand on her feet owing to the drug use.

Well, the viral video has surfaced on social media and the Maqboolpura police carried out a search operation in the locality on Sunday. During the operation, cops rounded up three people and recovered narcotic substances from their possession, an NDTV report said.

Meanwhile, following the search operation, Police have registered separate FIRs and detained 12 persons for investigations due to suspicious activities.

Speaking about the new shocking incident, AAP MLA Jeevanjot Kaur, who represents the Amritsar East constituency, reportedly said that the probe of the case is in progress.

However, AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister on Sunday said that drugs are entering Gujrat in large quantities through a port and being smuggled to Punjab and other parts of the country.

During his visit to Ahmedabad, Kejriwal said, “Several incidents in the recent past show that large quantities of drugs are entering through a Gujarat port. From here, the drugs go to Punjab and other parts of the country. Why is this happening? Apparently, somewhere the administration is involved at the top.”
