Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s father on Monday moved the Supreme Court challenging various orders, including the transit remand order of a Delhi court, in the murder case of singer Sidhu Moosewala. He also complained that lawyers in Punjab have boycotted his son and are not willing to represent him.
A vacation bench of Justices Suryakant and P B Pardiawala had said that Punjab Police should probe the matter since the murder took place there, reported India Today.
The plea was reportedly mentioned by Advocate Sangram Singh, who said that no one from the Bar Association was appearing for Bishnoi. Expressing surprise, the bench said, "We have already said the Bar cannot say no to any criminal case. You should approach the high court there and seek legal redressal."
On the other hand, the petitioner’s advocate informed the court, "We are also challenging a transit remand order." At this, the bench asked, "Why can't he be proceeded with in Punjab?"
The court furhter countered, “When the murder took place in Mansa, why will the hearing be in Delhi?”
The bench has agreed to hear the case on July 11, when the SC reopens after vacations. Bishnoi, who had been brought to Mansa on transit remand from Tihar jail on June 15, will next be produced in court again on June 27, reported India Today.
