Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu has opened up about being bullied online for gaining weight. She recalled going through a phase in her life when she used to feel ‘bad about everything’. Harnaaz revealed that she put on the weight in December last year due to some allergies after she was crowned the Miss Universe but she is okay with the change. Sandhu also mentioned that some of the online comments were very cruel and thus she “broke down” so many times.
Speaking with People magazine, Harnaaz revealed that she has been diagnosed with celiac disease and therefore she can't eat wheat flour, eggs, and many other things. She was quoted saying, “Physically I have kind of grown, got more pounds, and increased my weight, which I am totally comfortable about right now. I was bullied for gaining weight.” Explaining the reasons behind her sudden weight gain, she revealed that after she won the pageant she was really focused on her goal to win the competition and does not think about her health much. During the time of Miss Universe competition, the whole time we were working out, doing so many activities, and just after winning, she had almost a month just to relax. During that time, she actually didn't work out, she was just eating and just enjoying that time with her family. Further, talking about how nasty online comments affected her, Harnaaz said, “I definitely broke down so many times. Sometimes in the most unexpected times. I'm just about to go on stage or something and this whole thing comes in my mind. It's really sad.”
Meanwhile, Harnaaz Sandhu recently made headlines after actress and producer Upasana Singh filed a case against her for not promoting her Punjabi film ‘Bai Ji Kuttange.’ She accused the Miss Universe of breaching the contract by not honoring her commitments towards her production venture ‘Bai Ji Kuttange.’
