Devara: Part 1 hit the screens on Friday, September 27, 2024, in five languages, featuring an ensemble cast including Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. The movie’s release was highly anticipated, and it has opened to impressive numbers worldwide. However, the excitement surrounding the film's release was dampened by a tragic incident involving a devoted fan of Jr NTR in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.
The fan, Mastan Vali, had attended an exclusive first screening of Devara meant for fans and was reportedly cheering and enjoying the film with fellow moviegoers when the unfortunate event occurred. While he was enthusiastically watching the movie, he suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness inside the theater. His friends rushed him to a nearby private hospital, but sadly, he was declared dead upon arrival. According to media reports, the cause of death was a heart attack. The untimely loss of such a young and enthusiastic fan left his family devastated, and the incident cast a shadow over what had been a celebratory event for fans of Jr NTR and the movie.
Despite this tragic occurrence, Devara: Part 1 has set the box office ablaze with impressive collections. On its first day, the film earned a massive Rs 172 crore worldwide. In India alone, it amassed Rs 77 crore across all language versions, with the Telugu version contributing a dominant Rs 68.6 crore to the total. This makes Devara the second-biggest opening of the year for an Indian film, following the release of Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.
Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara: Part 1 also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Kalaiyarasan, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, and Murali Sharma. The movie has been jointly produced by Yuvasudha Arts and N.T.R. Arts, and fans are already looking forward to Devara: Part 2, which is currently in the works.
