South actress Mamta Mohandas recently took to her social media handles to inform fans that she has been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease vitiligo. Mamta, who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema, shares her selfies saying she is ‘losing colour.’ Soon after the actress shared the post, fans called her brave and a fighter. For the unversed, Mamta is also a cancer survivor. On Sunday, Mohandas shared her two selfies, in one of the pictures, she showed her vitiligo skin.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Mamta Mohandas shared her selfies and wrote, “Dear I embrace you now like I have never before. So Spotted, I’m losing color… I rise even before you every morning, to see you glimmer your first ray through the haze. Give me all you’ve got..for I will be indebted, here on out and forever by your grace.” In the first click, she is seen smiling as she sat outdoors. In the next, she is holding a beverage cup while sitting on a chair in the garden. She wore a black ensemble – black T-shirt, tights and a jacket. Reacting to her post, many fans and celebrities prayed for her health. One Insta user commented, “You are Really Really a powerful women Really love you a lot Keep inspiring us.” Another said, “You’re a fighter and you’re beautiful.”
Back in 2014, Mamta Mohandas spoke about suffering a relapse of cancer and told TOI that for the first time in her life, she was scared. “Well, I can’t say I have been as strong as I was when I first got the disease. I was a person who never worried about anything, whatever the issue. But for the first time in life, I was scared. It is easy to say, be positive. But this time, I felt it is ok to be scared, to be human,” she was quoted saying.
On the professional front, Mamta has featured in several films including, Malayalam film Mayookham, Bus Conductor, Adbutham and Lanka, Madhuchandralekha, and others.
