Trinamool Congress leader and Bengali actress Sayantika Banerjee enjoys a huge fan base. Having made a name for herself with her versatile performances, she was busy shooting for her upcoming film Chayabaj in Bangladesh. However, she returned to Kolkata recently, after she was reportedly harassed by a young choreographer named Micheal during the shoot. While she initially stayed silent about her sudden return, she has now opened up about the incident and expressed how she even allerted the producers of what went down.
As reported by the Hindustan Times, not only did Sayantika face harassment due to mismanagement by the producer, Manirul Islam, but she also faced many other technical issues. Shedding light on the event, she explained how initially a teacher had come for the dance sequence. However, Michael had to step in after the teacher left due to ‘monetary issues’. Quoting her interview with Anandabazar Online, the media publication wrote, “Michael, without my consent, held my hand and I stopped him in front of everyone.”
Shedding light on the mismanagement she had to face, the 37-year-old actress explained how she tried to contact the producer many times but never got a response. She went on to express that when she did not get a response, despite having reached out multiple times, she “said that I would not work with Michael like this.” Banerjee added that she waited for two more days in Cox's Bazar to hear a word back from the producer, before returning to India.
The actress went on to claim the producer even told her that she has to work with Michael for the film. Having shot for the film halfway, Sayantika expressed that she will be resuming work only after the management issues are fixed and her problems are considered. The makers of the movie are yet to release an official statement regarding the issue.
For the unversed, directed by Taju Kamrul, Chayabaj also stars Jayed Khan in a lead role.
