Former India cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was axed from the BCCI commentary panel. According to the reports, Manjrekar was not in Dharamsala for the 1st ODI between India and South Africa, which was washed out on Thursday. A report in Mumbai Mirror suggests that the former batsman who was a part of the commentary panel for the last three World Cups was not found to be good enough for the BCCI matches. Following this, BCCI planned to not include the commentator in the IPL commentary panel also.

Finally, on Sunday, former India’s Batsman broke his silence on being dropped out from the commentary panel and expressed himself on social media. Taking to Twitter, Manjrekar said that he will respect BCCI’s decision. He tweeted, “I have always considered commentary as a great privilege, but never an entitlement. It is up to my employers whether they choose to have me or not & I will always respect that. Maybe BCCI has not been happy with my performance of late. I accept that as a professional.”

When BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was asked about Sanjay being dropped out of the panel, he had clearly refused to comment on it.

Last year, Manjrekar was in the news as he had countered a few controversies. For the unversed, the commentator had called all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja a 'bits and pieces' cricketer during the ICC World Cup.  Following this, Jadeja had slammed him and had asked him to stop his 'verbal diarrhoea'.  However, Sanjay had then apologised to Ravindra Jadeja.
