Ace Indian tennis player Sania Mirza is all set to bid adieu to her career that has spanned over 20 years. After announcing her retirement, the sportswoman is all set to play her last Australian Open Mixed Doubles final in Melbourne. She couldn’t hold back her tears, during her goodbye speech as she recalled the initial days of her Grand Slam career. She got quite emotional while talking about her journey during her final match with Rohan Bopanna.
For the unversed, Sania began playing tennis at the age of 6. She was the first Indian woman to bag a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) title. Overall she has won six grand slam titles. She had announced her retirement from Tennis earlier in January. She had shared a compilation of notes that expressed her gratitude towards her parents, her coach, her family and friends. She had stated that the reason behind her retirement is her son Izhaan Mirza Malik, who needs more of her time. She will be retiring at the Dubai Tennis Championships in February 2023.
