Netizens called him a hypocrite because in the video tribute by RCB, one could see fireworks in the background. On November 5, Virat celebrated his birthday along with team RCB and Anushka Sharma in Dubai and a video of the celebration was shared on Twitter. However, team RCB came to Virat's rescue and tweeted that the fireworks visuals in the video were used from the archival footage of UAE’s Flag Day celebrations.
The tweet made by RCB read, "Hope you are all enjoying a happy and peaceful Diwali with family and friends. To clarify, the fireworks shown in RCB’s recent celebratory video was archival footage of UAE’s Flag Day celebrations. RCB continues to work hard to protect the environment as we’ve over the years."

In the video message that Virat Kohli had shared on Diwali, he said, "A very happy Diwali from me to you and your families. May God bless you with peace, prosperity and happiness this Diwali. Please remember do not burst crackers, protect the environment, and have fun at home with your loved ones with a simple diya and sweets on this auspicious occasion. God bless you all, take care."
