Ranu Mondal, naam toh suna hi hoga? It was sometime in the month of August this year that a clip of then-unknown Ranu Mondal crooning Lata Mangeshkar’s iconic number Lag Ja Gale on a railway station had emerged on the internet, and she gained immense popularity. Well, soon after becoming a viral sensation, Ranu Mondal went onto achieve greater heights, as she bagged an opportunity of recording a couple of songs for Himesh Reshammiya’s upcoming film. What next? Everyone hailed her, but since the internet can be a cruel place at times, Ranu Mondal was also crazily trolled for her actions. In a nutshell, all of this has made Ranu Mondal among one of the most searched personalities on Google for the year 2019!

Recently, Google unveiled its annual list of ‘2019 Year in Search’ and it is a roundup of what Indians have searched for the most this year. Topping the list is, unsurprisingly, Abhinandan Varthaman, who had landed in Pakistan amid one of India’s recent surgical strikes. However, he was soon sent back with due respect. Talking about Ranu Mondal, she has bagged the 7th spot in the list and has overtaken Bigg Boss 13’s most talked-about contestant Sidharth Shukla. This doesn’t come as a surprise considering the singer was in the news of mixed reasons.

Firstly, Ranu Mondal was criticised for her rude behaviour with a fan that asked for a picture. She yelled at her for touching her. Up next, a couple of pictures emerged online showed Ranu in a heavily done makeup that made her nearly unrecognisable. Well, the netizens were already miffed with the singer so this incident gave birth to a hell of memes. Wait! This isn’t it. Further, Ranu Mondal was once asked to sing her debut song on stage but, unfortunately, she couldn’t remember it. Ranu Mondal’s “Oh my God, I fokit it,” gave Twitterati another reason to massively troll the singer.

Here are the incidents we mentioned above:

Well, as they say, you win some, you lose some and Ranu Mondal’s case is no exception. Huge congratulations to her and we hope that the upcoming year is a lot better for the singer!
