Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is known for sharing his unfiltered opinions through his social media platforms. Having made a name for himself in the entertainment industry, he enjoys a huge fan base on social media. On Thursday, he took to his official social media handle to take a subtle dig at Kannada filmmaker and actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. Without mentioning the star’s name, he commented on the latter’s arrest in Renuka Swamy’s murder case and the details that have been revealed during the investigation.

Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, on Thursday, RGV commented on the ‘star worship syndrome’. He wrote, “A star using one die hard fan to kill another die hard fan who was interfering in his personal life is a fit example of the bizarreness of the star worship syndrome ..Fans wanting to order how their stars should run their lives is a unavoidable side effect of the same syndrome.” ALSO READ: Renuka Swamy Murder Case: Darshan Thoogudeepa’s Associates Recreate Murder Scene For Police During Investigation

For those who don’t know, Swamy was a die-hard fan of the Kannada filmmaker. The latter had paid Rs 5 lakh each to two of his four men to take the blame for the murder. He was furious with the Apollo Pharmacy worker for sending obscene messages and photos to the star’s rumoured partner Pavithra Gowda on Instagram. He had also allegedly commented on the actress’ social media posts and accused her of causing rifts between Darshan and his wife. According to the Free Press Journal, Darshan’s close aid Nagaraj and co-star Pradosh were arrested by the police according to the latest developments in the case. Nagaraj reportedly looked after the actor-filmmaker’s dealings and also took care of his farmhouse in Mysuru. As per media reports, Renuka was allegedly beaten with belts and sticks. He was also thrown against the wall, which led to his death.

Renuka Swamy was found dead on June 8 at the Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru. The culprits earlier wanted to hide their wrongdoings by disposing of his body in the Vrushabhavati valley, however, their plans were disturbed by the local dogs. After Renuka was brutally murdered, his remains were discarded in a canal in Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru. Apart from Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda, 10 people have been taken into police custody in connection with the case.
