For the uninitiated, Prince Philip's funeral is all set to take place on April 17. Prince Harry will be attending his grandfather's funeral and he has already reached the UK and is quarantining at his Frogmore Cottage home. Meghan Markle will be absent from the funeral.

For the unversed, Meghan Markle is expecting her second child, a girl with Prince Harry, and a source told People Magazine that Queen Elizabeth II understands why Harry had to travel home to the UK alone.

The source told People Magazine that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were in contact with the Queen after Prince Philip's death. The source further added that it was 'always a given that Harry would return to England for his grandfather's passing' and that Meghan had expressed her condolences when speaking with the grieving monarch. The Queen understands why she can't travel at the moment. Meghan has been advised by her physician not to travel. She is currently in California with their son Archie.

The official Twitter account of the Royal Family had tweeted a statement from Buckingham Palace that read, "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
