Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) is one of the renowned awards where the top sportspersons of the country will be fighting it out to be the best at the country's most coveted sports award ceremony. On Thursday, the very best of Indian sports were honoured at a glitzy function in the Capital. TOISA is in its fourth edition. In this coveted award function, the ace badminton player PV Sindu, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma, former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia and many more have been awarded top honours.
According to PTI, World champion shuttler PV Sindhu was awarded Sportsperson of the Year at TOISA. The Rio Olympic silver medallist won the world championship gold at Basel, Switzerland and last year, she was bagged with the Unbreakable Spirit of Sports award. Former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia was given the Lifetime Achievement award while vice-captain Rohit Sharma who did a phenomenal job at the International World Cup 2019 by scoring a century multiple times was named as the Cricketer of the Year by all means.
Olympic medallist boxer Vijender Singh was awarded the Youth Icon of the Year. While Deepika Kumari and Abhishek Verma bagged with the Archer of the Year award in female and male categories respectively.
According to the same portal, Sindhu bagged a hat-trick of awards when she was named as the Badminton Player of the Year in the female category. Knowing that Sindhu is the first Indian to become the Badminton World Champion, she very well deserved all these top honours. Congratulations to everyone whose hard work has paid off now.
