The entire nation celebrated Diwali on Monday, October 24 with great enthusiasm and pomp. However, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, went to Kargil to spend the special day with the Indian soldiers. As usual, he took to his social media handle and shared a video from Kargil.

The video shared by PM Modi featured him singing the Maa Tujhe Salam song along with the soldiers. Sharing the same on his Twitter, he tweet read, "A spirited Diwali in kargil." 

Interestingly, the song was sung by A.R. Rahman himself and it has come to represent the feeling of patriotic unity for India and the Indians. The song is performed or played at numerous national and regional events in the country. The song also boasts two Guinness World Records for being the song performed in most languages.


The iconic playback singer seemed honoured as PM Modi was a part of the song, sung at Kargil and he retweeted the PM’s video and captioned it with the lyrics of the Tamil version of Vande Mataram.
