Ever since Malayalam actress Parvathy Thiruvothu shared her critical two cents on the misogynistic concept of Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, right in front of Vijay Deverakonda, she has been trending on the web. The discussion took place during Film Companion’s recent interview that brought a lot of stalwarts from the Indian film industry under one roof. The list also included Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Manoj Bajpayee, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vijay Sethupathi. While Parvathy is being hailed for calling out the patriarchy in Arjun Reddy, she is also at the receiving end of criticism for casually using the term ‘bipolar disorder’. (ALSO READ - Stone Faced Deepika Padukone Slams Shahid Kapoor And Vijay Deverakonda’s Kabir Singh And Arjun Reddy)

It all happened after Parvathy compared Arjun Reddy’s character to that of Joker and that’s where she talks about the disease. Pointing out the same, a user called out the actress by tweeting, “Okay ya’all Parvathy is definitely rocking it here but DID SHE JUST SAY “THAT’S A BIPOLAR BEHAVIOUR?!” However, Parvathy was to take notice and she immediately apologised for having used that term amid the conversation. Taking to her Twitter, Parvathy penned a series of tweets on the same.

Calling it a wrong choice of words and elaborating further on the same, Parvathy wrote, “Hi Divya! Came across this comment. Thank you! It was a wrong choice of words and I stand corrected. This is important as I myself have been trying to unlearn usages that allow using grave mental disabilities as a mere “adjective” to explain a situation. The phrase I was looking for is “two extremes” of the impact of the commercial success of a movie. When a movie strikes with the audience for all the right reasons and gets a mass following. And the other, when a movie connects with the audience for toxic elements and thereby not only reveals the actual shocking reality of a larger mindset but also glorifies/encourages it. As I said, thank you for bringing it to my notice. We learn -unlearn- learn, encore!”

Soon after which Parvathy was yet again lauded for accepting her mistake and putting it out in the right way eventually.
