A lot of celebrities took to their respective Twitter handles to raise their concern over the violent crackdown of Police force against the students of Jamia Millia Islamia University. One of them was Parineeti Chopra who called the act Barbaric and stated that we should not call our country democratic. Post this, reports of her being removed from the position of the brand ambassador of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign made it to the headlines. However, the truth has been revealed. Apparently, her contract came to an end in 2017 and that she wasn't removed.
A spokesperson from the actor's team has quoted to Bombay Times, "Parineeti Chopra’s association with the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Campaign in Haryana expired as of April 2017. There is no truth to these speculations and we request you to kindly refrain from reporting the same." Parineeti who hails from Ambala was made the brand ambassador of this campaign empowering the girl child in the year 2015. This sets the record straight. The news gained a lot of mileage because of another, same kind of incident that happened with Savdhaan India host Sushant Singh. Reportedly, h
e was sacked from his role because of his support to the protestors against CAA.Meanwhile, Parineeti's tweet slamming the Jamia Millia incident read, "If this is what’s gonna happen everytime a citizen expresses their view, forget #CAB, we should pass a bill and not call our country a democracy anymore! Beating up innocent human beings for speaking their mind? BARBARIC."
