Classical singer Pandit Jasraj breathed his last on August 17, 2020, in the United States at the age of 90. His mortal remains reached India on August 19, thus leaving his family and friends in tears as the legend left for heavenly abode bidding a final goodbye. His major contribution towards the field of classical music made the country proud on the global map. Today the last rites of the recipient of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri will be conducted in Mumbai and the process of the same has also begun.
The legendary late singer was honoured with full state honours with his mortal remains wrapped in our Indian Tricolor flag, followed by a 21-gun salute. The Mumbai Police was in accordance with the procedure as the family and friends got teary-eyed as soon as the final honour was bestowed upon the late legend. Pandit Jasraj set a benchmark in the classical music industry with his career spanning over 80 years.
He was honoured with Padma Shri in 1975, Padma Bhushan in 1990 and Padma Vibhushan in 2000 for his work in the field of music.
Mourning his death and paying their last tribute was honourable PM of India Narendra Modi, megastar Amitabh Bachchan and many stars from the industry.
