Olympics winner Sakshi Malik who dreamt of getting the Arjuna Award seems hurt and disappointed as her name got omitted from the list of winners. Well, Sakshi Malik who won bronze at the Rio Olympics did not get a mention in the list as she has already been bestowed with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna which is the highest of the national sports awards. On this note, Sakshi took to her Twitter handle and shared a letter where she is requesting Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju for honouring her with the Arjuna Award.

In her tweet, Sakshi Malik said that she has been honoured by the Khel Ratna and she is proud of it. It’s her dream to add the Arjuna award to her list of achievements. She further mentioned that as a sportsperson, she has put her life at risk for it while also questioning which medal does she have to get for the country so that she would be honoured with the Arjuna award. She even asked if she would have the luck of winning this award.

Malik even spoke about this matter to Times Now where she was quoted saying, “So does this mean I should only play in Olympics, not in commonwealth games, Asian games, because I have an Olympic medal? What is this logic that if you have won the Khel Ratna you cannot win Arjuna? Every award has its own different value and I also want to win every award. I am disappointed as it’s my right to get the Arjuna award.”
