Former India cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has been once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. After being axed from the BCCI commentary panel, the former cricketer has courted controversy for picking up Wriddhiman Saha over Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper for the 1st Test against Australia. As Virat Kohli is flying back to be with his wife during the delivery of their first baby, the management is having a tough time to select their first choice wicket-keeper for the series.

Taking to social media when a user asked, “Who should be India's first choice wicketkeeper for the 1st Test against Australia? Rishabh Pant or Wriddhiman Saha? @cricketaakash @sanjaymanjrekar @Brad_Hogg,” Manjrekar replied and said, “In Tests always keeping skills first. Drop a Steve Smith early and he gets a 200! So Saha. Also need a better keeper against pace in Australia. Again Saha.” Well, Sanjay Manjrekar’s reply raised everyone’s eyebrows.

Replying to Sanjay, a user wrote, “Saha just can’t bat at all in aus. Pant hasn't dropped an imp catch. Best to play pant. At least we will have one extra bat. As it is we don't have openers,” while another said, “R Pant is very good kepper.... I dont see him leaving a catch in IPL Due to pressure hs wktkepping sometime seem juggly....but now he is all set.” A netizen asked, “But, what wrong did Pant do, as a "keeper" during the last Aus tour? Didn't drop a catch. In fact he equalled the World record for most dismissals by a keeper at Adelaide 2018 - 11 dismissals.”
