Navratri is undoubtedly one of the most widely celebrated festivals and it is majorly observed by Hindus across the globe. The auspicious festival is observed for nine days, to celebrate the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga - Durga, Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Maha Gauri, and Siddhidatri being worshipped. 

According to Vedas and Puranas, Goddess Durga is a signified a form of Shakti, who protects this world from demons. The festival is celebrated four times a year, Magha (Winter), Chaitra (Spring), Ashadha (Monsoon), and Sharad (Autumn), during which different types of religious programs are organised across the country.

Navratri 2022 DATE And TIME

On the occasion of this festival, devotees of Durga visit the Shakti Peethas, a sacred place of eternal power spread across India. According to the latest reports, this Navratri is called Shardiya Navratri also known as Maha Navratri which falls in the lunar month Ashwin during Sharad Ritu (September or October). 

Navratri is celebrated from Pratipada on the first day to Navami or the ninth day of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This time the great festival of Navratri will start on Monday, September 26, and will be celebrated till October 5, Wednesday.

On the first day of the festival, the devotes of Goddess Durga establish Ghat or Kalash in homes. After Ghatasthapana, they duly worship and perform the aarti of Maa Durga for the next nine days. 

It is believed that the establishment of a Kalash, which is considered a symbol of Mars work, brings happiness and prosperity in the house.

Navratri 2022 GHATASTHAPANA Shubh Muhurat

As per the Panchang, the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month will start on Monday, 26 September 2022 at 03:23 am.

On the other hand, according to astrology, the auspicious time for Ghatasthapana will be from 06:17 am to 07:55 am on this day.

Navratri 2022 IMPORTANCE

The festival of Goddess Durga is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the northern states of India including Gujarat, and West Bengal. On this day, Goddess Durga devotees observe a fast for nine days to seek her blessings. 

During the Navratri, alcohol, meat, onions, garlic, etc. are avoided. After nine days, the fast is broken on the tenth day. The tenth day of Navratri is known as Vijayadashami or Dussehra.
