Team India's World Cup-winning skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has filed a criminal case in Ranchi against two officials of Aarka Sports Management over a soured 2017 cricket academy deal. The case has been filed against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwash. Diwakar allegedly signed an agreement with Dhoni in 2017 to run a cricket academy globally but did not stick to the terms mentioned in the agreement.
Aarka Sports failed to fulfill the financial commitments outlined in the agreement, neglecting to pay the franchise fee and share profits as stipulated. Repeated reminders to adhere to the agreed terms proved futile, leading Dhoni to revoke the firm's authority letter on August 15th, 2021. Despite sending numerous legal notices, no resolution was achieved. According to Dayanand Singh of Vidhi Associates, representing Dhoni, they were deceived and swindled by Aarka Sports, causing a loss exceeding Rs 15 crore.
The CSK skipper arrived home after his New Year's holiday in Dubai, where he warmly welcomed the start of the year amidst family and friends. India's wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, was spotted alongside Dhoni during the trip. Additionally, Dhoni celebrated the Christmas festivities in Dubai, enjoying the season's spirit with his close circle of friends and family.
Facing a tough period, the two-time World Cup-winning captain for India underwent knee surgery in June 2023, with the procedure successfully conducted at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital. Mahi is all set to lead the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024.
